Welcome from The Performing Arts Director

Sing joyfully to the LORD, you righteous;
it is fitting for the upright to praise him.
Praise the LORD with the harp;
make music to him on the ten-stringed lyre.
Sing to him a new song;
play skillfully, and shout for joy.
Psalm 33:1-3

LCS offers a comprehensive performing arts program including strong education in band, choir and jazz. As per Manitoba Education, band, choir and jazz are all credit courses. While our ensembles excel, they are not exclusive. There are no auditions for band or choir and all students are eligible to participate. We strive to provide educational excellence for all.

LCS has a tradition of musical excellence. The senior years bands and choirs have consistently been invited to MusicFest and there is a strong LCS component in auditioned Manitoba Honour Bands and Choirs.

We Believe...

We believe that children should be encouraged to appreciate and nurture their unique God-given gifts and talents. We strive to provide a safe, respectful and supportive environment as students learn to express themselves through the arts. Our desire is that students will develop a lifelong appreciation of the arts.

The students will be given the opportunity to...

  • develop specific skills required for each Performing Arts course.
  • develop an understanding of the language and structure of a specific genre.
  • expand the interests and talents within the Performing Arts.
  • perform in public
  • develop self-discipline and pride in his/her accomplishments.
  • develop skills in teamwork.
  • assist in planning for future leisure enjoyment.

The most important, yet somewhat intangible objective, relates to the students' growth in serving God and the community. Whatever level of proficiency or personal commitment a person has toward the Performing Arts, all creative talent originates from God and this gift should be used in good stewardship.
