Spiritual Development
Senior years are a time of growth and change. During this challenging time between childhood and adulthood, students begin to make their own decisions about how to be adults in the world. Our teaching staff, Senior Years Counsellor and Youth Pastor are available to address the personal issues and struggles of life our students face. In addition to fostering students' independence, staff members work to provide guidance while still accepting and encouraging students as individuals.
During this often-difficult time for young people, a strong faith foundation helps facilitate personal growth. Along with the Bible classes students take, there are opportunities for students to join special study times during spares and lunch periods. Scheduled prayer times are set aside for Senior Year students but prayer is also a part of the everyday life of students and staff.
At the same time, our Senior students have ongoing opportunities to mentor one another and provide leadership to younger students. During weekly chapels, students have a variety of ways to participate in and lead times of worship, and are challenged with solid biblical teaching by a variety of speakers.
Counselling
The primary goal of the counselling program is to promote and enhance student learning through personal and social development, by providing direction and advice relating to decisions or actions. A school counsellor provides biblical counselling, prayer and guidance within an educational setting, giving students the opportunity to explore feelings, build social skills, examine information, and consider options for problem solving and decision making, all in a confidential and caring atmosphere. Whenever possible and appropriate, the counsellor makes referrals with the knowledge and consent of students and parents. In the best interest of the students, the counsellor may collaborate with teachers, administrators, parents and other professionals.
We look forward to meeting with every student at some time during the school year!
